A Thoughtful Team Visit in Cartagena

Cartagena is a place where many companies gather. If your team is planning time together here and wants to support Una Luz, start by asking our local team what would be useful.

We have welcomed visiting groups before. A visit can be a chance to see the afternoon program and community kitchen, meet the people who run them, and understand what steady support makes possible. It should fit around the children's routine and the work already happening, rather than becoming the center of the day.

What the programs need

Each afternoon, 32 children come to Una Luz. They share lunch, receive help with schoolwork, brush their teeth, learn about God's love, and head home with a snack.

Our kitchen also serves around 100 neighbors each day. Marylan and Doris work with three other volunteers to prepare and share that food. Groceries are our biggest continuing need. Better equipment and a larger space would help the team serve more people.

A company may be able to help with a contribution toward those needs, a recurring gift, or a practical project the local team has identified. We cannot promise a particular activity or time with children in advance. The right visit begins with a conversation about what the team actually needs and can host.

After the trip

One day together can be meaningful, but the programs run every week. If your company wants to keep supporting Una Luz after leaving Cartagena, a monthly contribution helps the team plan for food, materials, stipends, rent, and utilities.

Our broader goal is 100 monthly donors. Monthly gifts support the classroom and community kitchen as a whole.
