How Monthly Giving Supports Children at Una Luz
See how pooled monthly gifts help children in Cartagena have lunch, learn with their teachers, and spend the afternoon with people who care for them.
An afternoon children can count on
The 32 children in our program spend their afternoons at Una Luz. They have lunch, get help with schoolwork, and learn with their teachers. They practice everyday habits, including brushing their teeth, and hear about God's love. They head home with a snack.
We want each child to know that people care about them and that their life matters. For a parent who is struggling to afford lunch, knowing their child will eat here matters too. Parents told us this during our visit, and we have not forgotten it.
What monthly giving does
A monthly gift helps the local team plan ahead. It supports groceries, school materials, teachers' modest stipends, rent, electricity, and internet. It also helps our community kitchen serve around 100 neighbors a day.
You can give US$10, US$40, US$100, or another amount. These are suggested amounts. Gifts are pooled to support the whole program rather than assigned to a specific child.
Our board in the United States serves without pay. In Cartagena, volunteers work alongside local team members who receive modest stipends for their work.
What we hope to build
We want to welcome more children. In the longer term, we hope to build a permanent school and expand the kitchen so more families can count on a good meal.
